Chest Hair Removal Fit For a King

So you'd like to get rid of your chest hair, huh? Well you are not alone ...

Whether it is to emphasize that muscular physique or to show off your clean cut body at the beach, there are many reasons to remove hair from your chest. It can range anywhere from cultural, religious, personal preferences, or intimate reasons. The obsession with chest hair removal is a result of trends as well.

For a long time, up until around the 70s, having a generous amount of body hair was symbolic of masculinity and virility. But nowadays there seems to be a shift towards hairless body skin. Of course there are some people who still feel that having some hair on the chest is very attractive, so before you pull out the shaver or set an appointment for a waxing session, it's important to ask yourself your reasons for shaving off the hair on your chest.

So, why DO you want to remove your chest hair in the first place? Is it due to peer pressure? Or is there another more practical reason?

Here are some reasons males remove their chest hair:

1. To improve their self-esteem and self-image in public, (whether at the beach, public showers, locker room, or the bed room)

2. To eliminate the feeling of discomfort walking around with the friction between their chest hair and clothing against their skin, (During the hot and humid months, this may become more of an issue.)

3. To show off body art, rings, tattoos, and the like

4. To get the hair out of the way to improve effectiveness of tanning sessions

5. Their children or significant others make a, "fun", habit out of pulling at their chest hair, (Ouch!)

For those who decide to remove their chest hair, here are some solutions:

Scissors/Trimmers: If you are not quite ready to let all your chest hair go just yet and prefer a gentle path instead for starters.

Tweezing: Is very time consuming as each chest hair must be individually removed through this method. Can be quite painful, and must be done regularly.

Chest Hair Shaving: Simple, easy, and affordable. However this has to be done quite regularly depending on how quickly your hair grows back. Most common methods are with an electric or manual shaver or wet razor.

Bleaching: It's not the same bleach you use to clean your clothes. The bleach used should be created specifically for body hair. This method essentially hides your body hair not by removing it, but by making the color of your hair match closer to your skin tone. The duration of this alternative is about 2 to 3 weeks.

Waxing: A more painful solution, but more effective compared with the previously mentioned alternatives and lasts up to six weeks.

Depilatory: Usually a cream or lotion that leaves the applied area hairless for about a week or so. The problem with this method is that it may result in acne breakouts, irritation to your skin, and even chemical burns depending on the strength and amount of time you leave the formula on your skin.

Electrolysis: This permanent solution for hair removal, including chest hair, is quite common and popular. It usually takes several treatments before the process completes.

Epilators: A device that pulls out hair from the roots and a method that lasts up to 6 weeks, (but varies for each person). Generally the hair must be at least 1/4 inch in order for this machine to be able to grab it. Even then, epilators are not 100 percent effective at removing all the hair from your body.

Lasers: Quick, and less painful than electrolysis. But even more expensive. Chest hair removal is possible after several sessions and lasts for up to a few months.

Hopefully this article has opened your eyes to the great number of possible chest hair removal solutions available to you.
